Office Policies

We are dedicated to providing the highest quality patient care. In order to provide the best care to our patients we find it best to establish the following policies.

Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is important to everyone. We understand that from time to time you may need to miss an appointment or have an emergency. We only ask for a courtesy call to cancel or reschedule your appointment. It would be best to call during business hours, but if you call after hours, you will be directed to the answering service where you can leave a message.

If you are a new patient, we have reserved a two hour appointment for you. If you cannot keep your appointment for any reason, please call at least 48 hours prior to your appointment time so we can make that slot available to another patient.

If you are a current patient and cannot keep your appointment for any reason, please call at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time. If you miss your appointment or cancel with less than 24 hour notice, a fee may be charged to you. This fee is not covered by insurance.

Treatment of a Minor

New Patients: Due to the in-depth history and exam for new patients, a parent or legal guardian MUST accompany any patient under the age of 18. The parent is responsible to ensure patient co-pays due at the time of service, referral needs or other insurance requirements for the minor child at all scheduled appointments.

Established Patients: We must have a signed consent form on file signed by a parent or legal guardian if the parent or guardian does not accompany a minor to their appointment.

You may access that form here.

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Allergy Specialists of Knoxville will use and disclose health information about the patient in compliance with the HIPAA Act. Patients are entitled to receive a copy of the HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices. As outlined by Federal Regulations. Patients have the right to ask that some or all of their health information not be used or disclosed in the manner described in the Notice of Privacy Practices.

Financial Policy

Co-payments and deductibles are the patient responsibility. Co-payments must be paid at the time of the visit. While there may be insurance benefits available to pay for the medical services provided to the Patient by Allergy Specialists of Knoxville, PLLC, all services may not be covered by insurance or that payment may be less than 100% of charges billed. The patient will be responsible for any non-covered service. If insurance denies your visit because of lack or referral or insurance coverage was terminated and we have not been notified of change in coverage the balance will automatically be billed to the patient.
